Juice Detox

In an attempt to recover from the colossal amount of chocolate I ate on and around my birthday, I decided to do a three day juice detox. Only drinking juice for three days seems a bit extreme but it's not as bad as it sounds. I followed the detox plan in The Juice Master book by Jason Vale, using his amazing recipes. Most of the juices contain so many vegetables as well as fruit so I was still taking in enough calories to keep my metabolism up and running.

The Juice master book includes over 100 juice recipes!

The programme consisted of 5 different types of juices/smoothies, each recipe accompanied by a description of exactly how the juice would be AMAZING for your body, including all the types of vitamins they contain. Most of them contain quite a few apples so I was a bit concerned about how much sugar I was taking in, but according to Jason Vale, apples are one of the best detoxing foods and are great for our digestive health, helping us flush out toxins and cleanse our bodies.

I have to admit, the juices didn't always fill me up and at the end of the first day I felt pretty tired and a bit grumpy (as my family know I am not always pleasant with an empty stomach). However, by the end of the second day I really started to notice a difference in myself. My skin was really clear, my hair felt more shiny and I had loads of energy. It was also really refreshing going to bed knowing I had only consumed unprocessed, 100% natural and healthy food that day.

My reason for wanting to do this detox was, not to lose weight, but just to feel healthy - which I really did! My friends thought I was a little crazy for doing it but as I reminded them, it was only three days! Possibly the best thing about it was that after finishing the juice detox, I felt inspired to keep eating healthily as I really didn't want to lose that great feeling of being "cleansed" from the inside out.

Hello!

Hey there lovely people.

This is me! (Just doing a bit of punting)

My name is Katie Edgerley, I've been a vegetarian pretty much my whole life. I love exercising, keeping healthy and spending time with my amazing family and friends :)

One of the aspects of my life that I've become most aware of and passionate about is my health and fitness. I love sport, especially running, horse riding and lacrosse, which I play for my uni team. My brother is an England 7s player and a qualified personal trainer so I get lots of really helpful exercise and nutrition info and tips from him, which is so great! So with this blog I hope to share my journey to becoming as healthy as I can be as that is what really makes me happy!

ENJOY.
